 Social Emotional Specialist (K-8) 

 The Juniper School is a small, joyful K–8 charter school committed to growing the whole child by celebrating individuality, academic rigor, mindfulness, curiosity, and compassion for self, others, and the environment. We are seeking a warm, student‑centered school counselor who believes in nurturing creative, critical thinkers and compassionate hearts for a better tomorrow. 
 

Summary 

The social-emotional specialist plays a key role in supporting our students’ social‑emotional growth and contributing to a positive, restorative school culture. This position blends classroom teaching, small‑group intervention, and individualized support within a collaborative, mission‑driven environment. 
 

Key Responsibilities 

● Teach Tier 1 SEL lessons in classrooms using developmentally appropriate, whole‑child practices. 

● Provide Tier 2 small‑group SEL instruction focused on emotional regulation, friendship skills, conflict resolution, and executive functioning. 

● Offer short‑term individual counseling to support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs. 

● Facilitate restorative conversations and circles to repair harm and strengthen relationships. 

● Partner with teachers and families to promote a safe, inclusive, and mindful school community. 

● Contribute to MTSS processes and collaborate on student support plans. 

● Supervise students during recess, lunch, arrival, and dismissal to ensure safe, positive interactions 

● Assess and teach missing SEL skills

Qualifications 

● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in School Counseling, Social Work, or related field. 

● Appropriate Colorado licensure or eligibility. 

● Experience with SEL instruction, restorative practices, CASEL competencies, trauma informed care, and K–8 learners preferred.
