Blue Spruce Classroom

Ms. Stacey

I moved to Durango in 2012 for the gorgeous scenery, small town feel,  and active lifestyle. I am starting my 10th year teaching in this amazing place and can't wait to grow alongside my students. I have been with Juniper since it opened in 2017 and am excited to continue the journey! I earned my Bachelor's of Science in education from Wilmington College of Ohio with specialties in English Language Arts and Science.  I am also an Orton-Gillingham trained reading instructor.  I attained my Master's Degree in Teacher Leadership from Fort Lewis College in the Summer of 2021.  Teaching is my calling and my passion.  Building a strong sense of belonging and community is one of the first priorities in my classroom!  I also love getting kids actively learning in the great outdoors, and Durango is the perfect place to do so!

Painted Turtles Classroom

Ms. Erica

Hey everyone! My husband, Adam, and I recently moved to the Bayfield area from the Front Range, and we're excited to be here and to explore everything the area has to offer. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from the University of Arizona Global Campus. Some of my experience includes working one-on-one with students, teaching kindergarten, and, most recently, teaching 6th and 7th grade science. In my free time, I enjoy mountain biking, skiing, reading, and cooking. Pasta is life! What I value most about teaching is witnessing my students' "ah-ha" moments. These moments inspire me always to strive to be the best educator I can be. I'm thrilled to be joining The Juniper School community; please stop by and say hi!

Mr. Matt

I’ve lived in Colorado for 23 years and moved to Durango two years ago, from Pagosa Springs, with my husband of 28 years.  We have two adult daughters, living on opposite coasts.  Zoe, a writer in New York, and Hannah, an artist in San Francisco.  We have always loved Durango and are excited to call it home.  I live a very active lifestyle, and enjoy running, biking, hiking, paddle boarding, skiing and more in this beautiful area.  I have a Master’s degree in Elementary Education and this will be my eighth year teaching.  I’m delighted to be working with such an amazing group of educators at The Juniper School, and can’t wait to meet the students.  As a teacher, I hope to instill confidence and a life-long love of learning.
