STEAM and ART
Ms. Annalise
Hello! My name is Annalise, and I am excited to join The Juniper community this year. Originally from Michigan, where I earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Michigan State University, I hold a master's degree in teaching and curriculum with a specialization in science and mathematics education. After teaching middle school science for the past six years, I am thrilled to now have the opportunity to teach STEAM to Kinders through 8th graders. Living in Durango has been wonderful for pursuing my passion for the outdoors, including trail running, snowboarding, rafting, mountain biking, and camping. I look forward to an incredible year of exploration and learning with my students!

Visual & Digital Arts Teacher
Lauren Grinde
I am a filmmaker, animator, and mixed media artist who believes the best art is hands-on, a little messy, and full of imagination. I earned a BFA in Filmmaking and Animation from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and have taught everything from short documentary filmmaking at Animas High School to children’s art classes at Seed Studio and Durango Arts Center. At Juniper, I will blend traditional and digital techniques, recycled materials, and big ideas to help K–8 students discover their creative voices.

Outdoor and Physical Education
Mr. Shane
Hey there! My names Shane and I am the PE/Outdoor Education teacher here at The Juniper School. Originally from the Jersey Shore, I grew up surfing, skateboarding, and skiing. After completing my degree in Adventure Education at Plymouth State University, I developed a passion for working with youth through outdoor programming. I now live here in Durango with my wife and pup, where we spend our weekends exploring the beautiful San Juan Mountains. Stoked to be a part of this amazing community here at Juniper and fostering curiosity for the next generation of adventurers.
